Where to eat in Aruba

Zeerovers | Savaneta

This classic seafood restaurant is what island life is about. The atmosphere alone is worth an adventure to the island, and the food is worth the hype. They are closed on Mondays and the line every other day of the week is usually out the door. They serve until they are sold out so be sure to get there early! They open at 11am. The catch of the day will be the featured dish and if there is any left by the time you reach the front of the line be sure to get some (whatever it may be). You place your order by the kilo but if you are not well versed in the metric system ask and let them know how hungry you are! The woman thought we were crazy at the amount of food we ordered but we easily cleared the bucket. It is seat yourself and all your food is delivered to your table. If you get there early you also might get a spot on the covered dock on the water. This is a must when you come to Aruba and was recommended by all the locals we talked to.

Public Transportation to Zeerovers - You can take the bus line L1, L2, or L3A to get to Zeerovers from Oranjestad. It's worth mentioning that the bus stop near Zeerovers is not very shaded, and you do have to walk about seven to ten minutes to get to the restaurant. Before you leave, check the bus schedule again. Look for lines L2 or L3A. Line L2 is a shorter route if you are wanting to get back faster. You will want to time the bus so you don't wait too long at the stop. The buses came by hourly when we were there in December, but check the schedule it may be more often during high season.

The Dutch Pancake House | Oranjestad

Located in the Renaissance Marketplace in Oranjestad, this hot spot features a Dutch delicacy and my personal favorite, poffertjes. These mini pancakes practically melt in your mouth along with the powdered sugar and whipped cream toppings. Pair it with strawberries and nutella for an extra sweet treat. This place will fill up the moment it opens so make sure you get there right away in the morning or you will have a wait in a long line.

El Gaucho | Oranjestad

This Argentinian steakhouse will curb any carnivore's cravings. Large plates filled with authentic Argentinian steaks grilled to perfection. Cozy dining rooms decorated like a classic argentinian ranch home paired with a live mariachi band brought the whole atmosphere together. I would recommend El Gaucho if you are looking for a date night idea or if you want space for the whole family to come share a meal.

Lola Taqueria | Palm Beach

This little taqueria will have you coming back for more and more… and more. Their open terrace is perfect for escaping the mid day sun or catching a cool evening breeze. Colorful decor and lively music add to the groovy ambiance. We visited on taco Tuesday where tacos are $1 all day. It was one of the most delicious tacos I’ve ever had. This is a must stop when you are around Palm Beach.

Bugaloe | Palm Beach

Bugaloe came highly recommended from a few locals. Situated at the end of a boardwalk on Faro de Palm Beach, this vibrant cabana bar hits you with 180 degrees of views. In the evening the staff puts on a show singing and dancing around the tables. The service was so great we came back twice during our stay. Bugaloe is a perfect spot for drinks, lunch, or dinner with the whole family.

Santos | Oranjestad, Eagle Beach, Noord

The coffee house with soul. We came here every morning for delicious coffee and food. After three days in a row we really got to know the amazing staff. If you are in need of a bite to eat they also serve breakfast and lunch. Their breakfast sandwiches were amazing. They have multiple locations throughout the island. We frequented the cafe in Oranjestad. But also got a chance to visit their Casa Del Mar location just off Eagle Beach. Their third location, The Cove, is located near the Paseo Herencia shopping mall and their drive thru location, Tankini Flip is located between the Noord neighborhood and Oranjestad. We loved this little cafe and I would recommend anyone to drop in for a coffee or their happy hour.
